DIRECT DATA COLLECTION FORMS
1. WHAT OPTIONAL DIRECT DATA COLLECTION TOOL CAN I USE IN THE EXPLORATION PHASE OF THE FBA TO HELP ME SEE IF THERE ARE LARGER PATTERNS TO THE BEHAVIOR? (DO NOT USE A SCATTERPLOT FOR BASELINE & PROGRESS MONITORING UNLESS THE TARGET BEHAVIOR IS A LOW FREQUENCY BEHAVIOR)
2. HOW DO I SELECT THE TYPE OF DIRECT DATA COLLECTION TO USE FOR BASELINE & PROGRESSING MONITORING ONCE I HAVE SELECTED A TARGET BEHAVIOR? (MINIMUM OF ONE KIND IS REQUIRED)

DO YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW MUCH OR HOW OFTEN A BEHAVIOR OCCURS?

TIME SAMPLING (three types) - Forms giving different observation lengths and interval options are available under the Form Library Tab in the menu pane to the left.
1. Momentary Time Sampling is best used with continuous behaviors such as engagement with a task. Observer records whether the behavior occurred at the moment he/she looks up at a predetermined interval. 20-minute observation done in 2- minute intervals below:
2. Partial Interval Recording is best used when measuring an undesired behavior; observer records whether the behavior occurred at ANY time during the predetermined interval. 10-minute observation done in 30-second intervals below:
4. Full Day Partial Interval best used when measuring an undesired behavior; observer records whether the behavior occurred at ANY time during the predetermined interval. 14-intervals of approximately 30 minutes each. Allows for measurement of multiple behaviors.
3. Whole Interval Recording is used to measure continuous behaviors (ex. Cooperative play) or behaviors that occur at such high rates that observers have difficulty distinguishing one responsefrom another (ex. humming) but can detect whether the behavior is occurring at any
time. 10-minute observation done in 30-second intervals below:

EVENT (FREQUENCY) RECORDING - Event f(or frequency) recording gives an actual tally of instances of the target behavior
DO YOU WANT TO EVALUATE HOW LONG A BEHAVIOR OCCURS FOR?
- USE DURATION RECORDING FORM...
DO YOU WANT TO EVALUATE HOW LONG IT TAKES FOR A STUDENT TO START A BEHAVIOR?
2. USE A LATENCY RECORDING FORM...
2. USE A LATENCY RECORDING FORM...
3. WHAT FORM IS REQUIRED TO DETERMINE FUNCTION OF THE TARGET BEHAVIOR?
A-B-C Recording
ABC DATA IS INTENDED TO HELP US DETERMINE WHY A BEHAVIOR OCCURS (THE FUNCTION) RATHER THAN HOW OFTEN A BEHAVIOR OCCURS.
THIS IS A MULTIPLE OBSERVATION FORM THAT ALLOWS FOR COMMENTARY SPECIFIC TO POSSIBLE FUNCTION OF BEHAVIOR.
